Our programs & initiatives
The programs help our initiative in a variety of ways
Support UsEldoret Illula Project
The Eldoret Illula Project, launched in 2008, was created to provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for children with albinism. The center houses 35-40 children, offering them a secure place where they can grow, learn, and interact with their peers. It features key facilities, including a dormitory for comfortable living, a dining facility to ensure proper nutrition, and educational support to help the children excel academically. By providing access to quality education, the center aims to equip the children with the tools they need for a brighter future. The project also serves as a space for emotional and social development, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Through this initiative, KACSU strives to create an environment where children with albinism can thrive without fear of discrimination or stigma. Ultimately, the Eldoret Illula Project plays a vital role in empowering these children to realize their full potential and lead successful, fulfilling lives.
Farm Project
The Farm Project is a key initiative aimed at promoting self-sustainability for KACSU. It utilizes modern equipment to enhance productivity, including a milking machine for efficient dairy farming and a chaff cutter to process animal feed. These advanced tools help streamline operations and increase the farm's output. In addition to modern farming equipment, the farm is equipped with a biogas system, which provides an eco-friendly solution for cooking. This system converts organic waste into biogas, reducing reliance on traditional cooking fuels and promoting environmental sustainability. The farm's operations also serve as an educational resource for sustainable farming practices, benefiting both the organization and the surrounding community. Through these innovative approaches, KACSU aims to ensure the long-term success and financial sustainability of its programs.
Guest House Project
The Guest House Project aims to enhance the financial sustainability of KACSU by constructing a guest house on the farm property. Construction is currently underway and is expected to be completed soon, providing a valuable source of income for the organization. The guest house will offer high-quality accommodations for visitors, volunteers, and supporters of the organization. It will also create employment opportunities within the local community, helping to boost the local economy. This project not only contributes to the financial stability of KACSU but also raises awareness about the organization’s work. Once completed, the guest house will serve as a hub for collaboration and networking for individuals and groups working towards social change. KACSU envisions this guest house as a vital asset that will further strengthen its ability to provide support for children with albinism and their families.
Screening Program
KACSU organizes regular eye and skin screenings in partnership with organizations like the Rotterdam Foundation. These screenings are vital for early detection of potential health issues common among individuals with albinism, such as vision impairments and skin conditions due to the lack of melanin. By offering free or subsidized medical screenings, KACSU helps ensure that children and adults with albinism receive the necessary care and treatment. This program also provides access to essential products, such as sunscreen and sunglasses, which are crucial for their health and well-being. In collaboration with medical professionals, KACSU aims to improve the quality of life for individuals with albinism through proactive health monitoring. The screenings are not only focused on physical health but also raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by people with albinism. Through these regular screenings, KACSU hopes to prevent serious health complications and promote long-term well-being for the community.
Awareness Creation
KACSU is committed to reducing stigma around albinism by educating communities, schools, and organizations about the condition. Through its awareness creation efforts, the organization has seen positive changes in community perception and understanding, successfully demystifying myths about albinism and promoting inclusivity and acceptance. KACSU's efforts have played a pivotal role in fostering a more informed and supportive environment for individuals with albinism. By hosting workshops, community forums, and school outreach programs, KACSU raises awareness about the challenges faced by those with albinism and advocates for their rights. These programs also focus on dispelling harmful misconceptions and promoting empathy and understanding. The impact of this initiative has been significant in changing attitudes toward people with albinism, making communities more accepting and supportive. Ultimately, KACSU's awareness campaigns contribute to a more inclusive society, where individuals with albinism can live free from fear and discrimination.
